Dr. Payne's Homepage
Dr. Payne is currently appointed as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He also serves as the Translational Research Informatics Architect for The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Payne earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University, where his research focused on the use of knowledge engineering methodologies to improve the design of clinical trial participant tracking tools.
Dr. Payne's research interests include: 1) the observation and modeling of basic science and clinical research workflows in order to discover gaps or inefficiencies that can be targeted with informatics interventions, 2) the application of knowledge engineering and data/text mining methodologies to support integration and hypothesis discovery operations in the context of large-scale, heterogeneous biomedical data sets, 3) the evaluation and design of novel human-computer interaction models for complex, high-density biomedical information sources, and 4) the design and management of clinical trial and tissue bank management systems.
